How We Work
At KC:DT, our AAC clinic operates on the fundamental belief that every person deserves to communicate their thoughts, ideas, and needs in whatever way is most effective for them.
As one of only two comprehensive AAC clinics in the Kansas City area, we provide thorough Augmentative and Alternative Communication evaluations using our extensive library of trial devices to find the best match for each individual's motor, vision, and communication differences. We handle all insurance paperwork and funding submissions, then provide ongoing coaching through in-person and teletherapy sessions to empower families and ensure long-term success. These follow-up services offer families opportunities to ask questions, collaboratively problem-solve daily challenges, and build confidence in supporting their child's communication growth.
Additionally, we support school districts without assistive technology personnel by providing in-services, evaluations, and ongoing AAC support to ensure students have comprehensive communication support across all environments.

Trial device support (if required by payer source)
Funding submissions to payer sources such as insurance or Medicaid
Ongoing coaching and support either in-person or via teletherapy once device is received
Collaborative support with schools or other providers once device is received
