Relationship-Based
Therapy That Honors
the Whole Child

At KC:DT, we provide DIR-accredited therapy that honors individual differences, values relationship above all, and rejects one-size-fits-all approaches to development.

Our Therapy
Services

  • We meet children exactly where they are in their communication journey. Whether your child is just beginning to use their voice, gestures, and eye gaze, or needs support expressing complex ideas during play, we build on their natural strengths. From early communication to augmentative devices, we support whatever form of expression helps your child share their thoughts and connect with others.

  • Through sensory motor play, we help children confidently explore their world. Our OT sessions build self-confidence while supporting sensory processing, motor planning, and coordination. We want every child to feel capable—whether they're exploring toys as a toddler or sitting comfortably at school cutting and coloring.

  • Using natural motivators and play, we help children move confidently through their environment. Our PT sessions focus on strengthening, balance, coordination, and motor milestones that support development across all areas. We help families reach functional goals that allow for independent, joyful exploration of daily life.

  • Music becomes the bridge to connection and growth. Our board-certified music therapists use singing, instruments, and movement to support communication, motor skills, social-emotional development, and executive functioning. Music engages children naturally, making therapy feel like play while building real skills.

  • Using the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach, we take a whole-child view of feeding challenges. We increase comfort levels by allowing exploration of food in fun, playful, non-stressful ways. Our collaborative approach addresses sensory, motor, and oral needs simultaneously because feeding is beautifully complex.

  • We support the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, and families. Through play therapy, art, and other developmentally appropriate approaches, we help children navigate fears, anxiety, attention differences, and social challenges while honoring their unique way of experiencing the world.

  • You are the expert on your child. We partner with you, sharing our professional knowledge while honoring your deep understanding of your child's needs. Our coaching helps you feel successful in daily interactions and turns everyday moments into opportunities for connection and growth.

Specialized Programs

AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication)

Every person deserves to communicate their thoughts and needs. We provide comprehensive AAC evaluations using our device library, work with insurance, and offer ongoing coaching to empower families with communication tools that truly work.

Academic Support & Executive Functioning

We use relationship-based approaches to support reading, writing, and executive functioning challenges. Following each child's interests and strengths, we help them develop organizational skills, planning abilities, and self-regulation strategies for lifelong success.

Social Groups

Our carefully crafted groups pair children whose strengths complement each other. We focus on perspective-taking, shared joy, and meaningful connection rather than compliance or conformity. Groups are tailored around individual needs because we know children who play on each other's strengths create magic together.

Our Specialties

  • As a DIR-accredited practice, we consider each child's developmental level, individual differences, and relationship in every session. We put engagement and connection at the center of all our work, helping families understand their child's unique sensory processing, motor planning, and communication patterns.

  • We see individual differences as gifts, not deficits. Our approach celebrates autism, ADHD, and other neurological differences as natural variations of human experience. We reject compliance as the measure of success and instead focus on helping each child develop authentic self-advocacy skills while building confidence in who they are.

  • We meet children where they are developmentally, not where a chart says they should be. Development is a unique journey, not a checklist. We support each child's natural progression while honoring their individual timeline, recognizing that meaningful growth happens through relationship and genuine engagement.

  • Every child has a unique sensory profile, communication style, and way of processing the world. We spend time understanding these individual differences and use them as the foundation for all our therapeutic work. Rather than trying to make children fit a mold, we help families and communities adapt to support each child's authentic way of being.

Consultation & Community Support

We believe children thrive when their entire community understands and supports their differences. We offer consultation to schools, daycares, and community programs, providing professional development that spreads our relationship-based approach beyond our clinic walls.
